Fresh air after dinner: scent tips for small Singapore kitchens

Fresh air after dinner: scent tips for small Singapore kitchens

Frying, curries and grilling are part of life in Singapore, and the smells can linger in smaller kitchens. A little planning helps.

Start with ventilation

Turn on the exhaust fan while you cook and keep it on for ten minutes after. Open a window if you can.

Then add a fresh scent

A scent does not remove odours, but it can make the room feel fresher. These oils work well:

  • Lemon: bright and clean.
  • Peppermint: cool and sharp.
  • Eucalyptus: airy and fresh.
  • Grapefruit and orange: sweet and uplifting.

Simple kitchen routines

  • Diffuse 3 to 4 drops of lemon for 30 minutes after dinner.
  • Wipe worktops and the sink, then finish with a fresh scent.
  • Keep a small reed diffuser just outside the kitchen, not next to the stove.

A note on safety

Keep diffusers and oils away from heat, flames and cooking areas. Never leave a diffuser running unattended.

Browse our single oils for citrus and mint, or choose a reed diffuser for the hallway.
